BREAKING NEWS  | Bishop Receives Injury Update
Friday, June 15th, 2001
A blow for Bill R Bishop today -- team doctors were able to determine the full extent of his recent injury. He will miss 4-5 months with bone chips in his elbow. Bishop suffered the injury on 06/13/2001. The team will likely place Bishop on the disabled list today.
This year Bishop has earned no saves, worked 16.2 innings, fanned 7 hitters and recorded a 10.80 ERA. He has also put up a 0-0 won-lost mark. |

It was an almost perfect day for Maury Wills today at Tropicana Field. The Rays shortstop was sensational at the plate with 5 base hits in 5 tries, it just wasn't enough to beat the Washington Nationals. They spoiled his great day with a 7-6 win over Tampa Bay.
Maury Wills singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
Wills is hitting .300 this year with 1 home run, 35 RBIs and 28 runs scored. He has 84 hits in 280 at-bats, 12 walks and a .324 on-base percentage. Wills has played in 65 games. |

It was announced today in Texas that Rangers center fielder Mitch Webster will be on the mend for 3-4 weeks because of chronic back soreness he sustained in a recent game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Webster was injured making a defensive play.
Batting .289 to date, Webster has 10 home runs and 36 RBIs. |
